SAN FRANCISCO – April 22 – You know you have a good event when the event organizer sends out a last-minute email asking attendees to BYOC – bring your own chair – because every seat in the house is taken. That’s how it went at the recently concluded Open Wireless Hackathon, where developers and security analysts had an unprecedented opportunity to work side by side and also contribute to the OpenWireless movement.
Sponsored by the prpl Foundation, Riscure (kudos to them for providing the facility), ThoughtWorks and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the packed, all-day event brought together folks far and wide from the OpenWrt community.
Art Swift, president of the prpl Foundation, summed it up: “With the unprecedented level of connectivity we’re now seeing comes a need for a new level of security and hackathons like these are a part of that work.”
